Krishnagiri: A 17-year-old boy who abducted and raped a nine-year-old girl near Naduvanpudhur village in Krishnagiri district, on August 12 was arrested on Saturday night.Police said the incident took place when the survivor, a Class IV student at a govt school in a nearby village, was returning home around 5pm. “The boy gagged her eyes and mouth, carried her into nearby bushes, and raped her,” said an officer from the Denkanikottai all- women police station.The girl informed her mother who took her to a local primary health centre. She was later admitted to the Krishnagiri Govt Medical College and Hospital, where she continues to receive treatment.Meanwhile, based on a complaint from her parents, Denkanikottai all-women police registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and began investigating. During the probe police identified the accused as a 17-year-old boy from the same locality. He had dropped out of school after Class VIII and was tending cattle. “He had been stalking the girl for some time before the incident,” the officer said.Police subsequently arrested the teenager and produced him before a court, which remanded him in judicial custody.
