Dharmapuri: Residents of a government housing complex at Bodur in Dharmapuri district, besieged the Pennagaram municipal office with empty pots on Thursday, to protest an acute shortage in drinking water supply. The Bodur housing colony which comprises 272 flats, is currently home to 53 families. Residents said they have not been supplied drinking water for the past 10 days, forcing them to buy water at a high cost. The shortage has left families struggling even for basic needs such as drinking and bathing, and children are unable to attend school on time due to the crisis.“Despite repeated petitions to officials, no action has been taken so far,” said GM Madhesh, a resident. Irked over the inaction, residents besieged the municipal office and raised slogans demanding immediate relief.Municipal officials met the protesting residents and assured them that water supply would be restored without delay, following which they dispersed.
