NAMAKKAL: A 55-year-old textile worker died after his lungi got entangled in a yarn grinding machine at Pallipalayam in Namakkal district on Wednesday.The victim, identified as M Kandhasamy of Southpalayam, was cleaning the machine when the lungi he wore caught in its rotating parts. “He was pulled into the machine, and his legs were severed,” said an officer at the Pallipalayam police station.Co-workers rescued him and took him to Pallipalayam Government Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.Kandhasamy had worked for more than three decades in the unit, owned by Angamuthu. His family members and relatives are also working in the unit.The body was sent to the Perundurai Government Medical College and Hospital for postmortem.Pallipalayam police registered a case.
