Zoho steps up ed-tech play with AI features

Chennai: Zoho has stepped up its focus on education software applications with revamped learning management systems products with AI-powered features, targeting domestic and foreign institutions. The platform will focus first in India and will be rolled out across global markets to follow in the coming months, with customisation for different markets.Speaking to TOI, Dev Anand Ramasamy, vice-president of product management at Zoho said, the focus is enterprise software to schools, colleges, universities in India. “The platform will help more visual, interactive and personalised learning to improve student experiences. Zoho is using AI to execute the flipped classroom model on a massive scale, automatically generating prep materials to ensure students learn the basics before the lecture even begins. It’s an ambitious bid to modernise an overwhelmed education system by putting an academically restricted, heavily supervised AI tutor.”The company offers a unified platform for learning journeys, student engagement tools and student lifecycle management. This includes using AI to automate certain tasks, including lesson planning, compliance process with institutional intelligence. It provides AI with its own key methods, assists them in integrating those APIs directly into the platform, tapping the current free and subsidised AI access for educational institutions. He said the LMS offering is a natural extension of Zoho’s existing enterprise ecosystem. “Education is already one of the top performing sectors for Zoho CRM and students are already using other Zoho apps,” added Ramasamy.It also has a free offering for central and state run institutions and smaller schools with up to 100 students and align with local frameworks like NEP 2020, UGC, and data residency.
