Youth arrested for selling banned Kerala lottery tickets in Namakkal
Police seized lottery tickets worth nearly ₹2 lakh from the arrested youth

Namakkal: A 19-year-old youth was arrested for illegally selling banned Kerala lottery tickets near the Kumarapalayam bus stand on Wednesday night. Police seized lottery tickets worth nearly ₹2 lakh from him.The arrested has been identified as M Murugan, of Kumarapalayam. He was apprehended when a special team led by Palipalayam police sub-inspector M Gautham, conducted surveillance near a private bakery near the Kumarapalayam bus stand, following a tip-off.“As part of the operation, undercover police purchased a lottery ticket for ₹600. When Murugan, handed over the ticket, he was caught red-handed and taken into custody,” the SI said.Investigation revealed that the banned tickets had been smuggled from Kerala and were being sold at inflated prices in the state.He was produced before a court and later lodged at the Salem central prison under judicial custody on Thursday.
