CHENNAI: Leader of opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin on Tuesday condemned the arrest of Tamil rapper ‘Therukkural’ Arivu for speaking against NEET.Udhayanidhi said on X that the TVK govt was attempting to silence voices opposing the entrance examination. “The voices raised against NEET deserve to be heard, not silenced,” Udhayanidhi said. The former deputy CM said Arivu’s voice reflected the sentiments of not only Tamil Nadu but also millions of people across the country. He alleged that the arrest came at a time when protests against NEET were gaining momentum nationwide and said it sent a troubling message to youngsters in Tamil Nadu who were considering joining demonstrations in solidarity with protesting students in Delhi.Calling NEET “a scam” riddled with discrepancies, Udhayanidhi reiterated his demand to ban the examination and said those speaking against it should not be silenced.
