TVK-led Tamil Nadu govt to present maiden budget on August 5

CHENNAI: The TVK-led govt will present its maiden budget on August 5, Assembly Speaker J C D Prabhakar announced on Tuesday.Addressing reporters at the Secretariat, the Speaker stated that the upcoming Assembly session will convene on August 5, with the presentation of the main budget scheduled for the opening day.A separate, dedicated Agriculture Budget will be tabled the following day, August 6.The speaker said that they will take effects to live telecast the budget sessionSpeaker Prabhakar clarified parliamentary immunity protocols.Citing Assembly Rules 291 and 292, he stated that the Speaker’s prior permission is strictly mandatory to arrest a legislator if the action takes place within protected premises, including the Assembly hall, corridors, ministers’ chambers, library, and the MLA hostel.However, there is no requirement to obtain permission from the Speaker for arresting legislators outside the assembly campus, Prabhakar clarified, responding to queries regarding the recent arrest of Vilathikulam MLA G V Markandayan.The Speaker continued that he received communication regarding his arrest and it would be communicated to other members of the House as per the rules.
