Erode: Three youths were arrested for peddling intoxicating pills in Erode on Friday. Erode town police also seized 300 tablets from them.The arrested have been identified as Tharun, 20, of Kumalan Kuttai; Srishanth, 21, of Surampatti; and Duraisamy, 20, of VVCR Nagar in Erode. They were apprehended when a special police team conducted a vehicle check near Thottampatti, Villarasampatti on Thursday night following a tip off.The police team initially intercepted them after they were found moving suspiciously in the area. As their answers raised suspicion, police took them to the station for further inquiries during which it came to light that the trio had been illegally selling prescription painkillers across Erode.Police subsequently arrested the three and seized the pills in their possession along with their mobile phones. Further investigation is underway.
