COIMBATORE: The Mahalingapuram police in Coimbatore district have arrested three ambulance drivers for celebrating the birthday of one of them by cutting two cakes with a machete near the CTC Medu bus stand on the Pollachi–Coimbatore Road.The arrested have been identified as Suresh, 35, Vanjinathan, 32 and Vengadesan, 30, of Pollachi.Suresh celebrated his birthday on Thursday night with his friends near the CTC Medu new bus stand. They placed two cakes on a stretcher used for transporting patients and cut them with a machete.The video of the incident surfaced online, triggering widespread outrage and concern. Following this, the Mahalingapuram police registered a case and arrested the three men who were in the video.Police seized the machete used for cutting the cakes. The arrested men were remanded in judicial custody.
