COIMBATORE: BJP state president Nainar Nagenthran on Friday alleged that the Tamil Nadu’s economy has deteriorated under TVK govt and is “heading towards the abyss.” He accused the TVK regime of functioning largely as a “social media govt.”Nagenthran was in Pollachi to pay floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. Speaking to reporters later, he launched a broadside against TVK govt and chief minister C Joseph Vijay. He said that during the first 144 days of TVK govt, around 500 crimes had been reported. He alleged that 30 people associated with the party were accused in rape cases and no action had been taken against them.He said BJP would continue to expand its political presence in Tamil Nadu and claimed that the party would eventually establish its “full authority” in the state.Asked about the bypolls in Dharapuram and Madurantakam, Nagenthran alleged that the resignation of MLAs after getting elected amounted to “horse-trading.” He held chief minister Vijay responsible for this and demanded a judicial inquiry into the alleged horse-trading.Nagenthran stated that the state was facing power shortages and increased power cuts, affecting industrial units. He alleged that govt had failed to introduce adequate welfare and development schemes for the people. “There is no people-oriented governance. There is nothing for the welfare of the people,” he said.
