CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu chief minister C Joseph Vijay is set to wave the ceremonial green flag at the Michelin Le Mans Cup race at Silverstone in the UK on Saturday.Vijay will attend the fifth round of the 2026 championship as a special guest and is expected to support Indian drivers competing in the race.The Michelin Le Mans Cup confirmed his appearance on social media, saying the Tamil Nadu chief minister would officially start the Silverstone round in front of a 44-car grid.“A special guest will be waving the green flag at Silverstone this weekend! C. Joseph Vijay. The Indian actor and chief minister of Tamil Nadu will be joining us to support our Indian drivers in the UK and officially start the #SilverstoneRound in front of the 44-car grid. We can’t wait to go racing this Saturday,” the post on X said.Tamil actor and professional racer Ajith Kumar also welcomed Vijay’s visit to the race.“I am extremely thankful to the Honourable CM of Tamil Nadu, C Joseph Vijay, to have taken time off from his busy schedule to come and visit us at Silverstone,” Kumar said.The two actors have worked together in the film industry for more than three decades, Kumar said.“We’ve been colleagues in the film industry for the last 34 years” he added.
