Chennai: Tambaram Corporation has allocated ₹48 lakh to install 385 new LED street lights across Selaiyur – Zone 5 of the Tambaram Corporation.Corporation officials said the project aims to improve visibility and safety for residents. As part of the plan, 106 LED lights of 40watts, 190 lights of 70watts and 89 lights of 90watts will be installed on the new poles erected by the Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation along newly formed roads and developing residential layouts in the area.Residents welcomed the move as the lack of sufficient streetlights in interior areas of Selaiyur has triggered safety concerns, especially for women and children. “Localities such as Noothencheri, Vengaivasal and several interior stretches of the locality need more street lights,” said a resident.
