Coimbatore: A stray dog that had recently bitten two people in Podanur was found dead on Thursday morning. The carcass was found in MGR Nagar opposite the Podanur police station in ward 95.The sudden death of the dog has triggered fear among residents, who said stray dog attacks have become frequent in several parts of the city. Children, elderly people, women and two-wheeler riders are among those primarily affected by the menace, they said.Locals said the dog had bitten a 42-year-old man from third street and a 56-year-old man who works at a commercial establishment in the same area. Both victims were taken to the Podanur urban primary health centre for treatment.Meanwhile, residents have urged the Coimbatore corporation to immediately catch stray dogs roaming in residential areas, carry out sterilisation drives and administer necessary vaccinations. They said timely action was needed to prevent similar attacks and ensure public safety in Podanur and nearby localities.
