Rabid dog bites 12 people in Hosur

KRISHNAGIRI: Panic gripped several neighbourhoods in Hosur after a stray rabid dog bit 12 people on Monday.“Eight of the injured were admitted to Hosur Government Hospital for treatment while the others received medical care and were discharged,” said a doctor in the hospital.The dog bit people in Mullai Nagar Housing Board quarters, the railway station area, the RC Church locality and the inner ring roads area. They said the dog continued to roam the streets, creating fear among the public. Reports indicated stray dog attacks in Brindavan Nagar, Rainbow Garden and other residential areas too, with the hospital treating more than ten bite cases daily.Activists urged the Hosur municipal corporation to take immediate steps to capture the rabid dogs. V Durai, president of the Hosur Residents’ Welfare Association, said, “People are living in constant fear. Children and women are most vulnerable. The municipality must act swiftly to catch these rabid dogs and ensure public safety.”
