Chennai: The city police registered at least 57 narcotics cases and arrested 94 people during a weeklong special anti-drug drive conducted across the city between July 5 and July 11.A total of 80.272kg of ganja, one gram of methamphetamine, 19g of heroin, 1,068 narcotic pills, 20g of ‘OG’ ganja, five mobile phones, ₹15,500 in cash, one two-wheeler and one autorickshaw were also seized during the crackdown.The anti-narcotics intelligence unit also monitored networks involved in the distribution of narcotics and synthetic drugs, gathered intelligence on traffickers and suppliers, and coordinated with local police stations to facilitate arrests and further investigation.
