COIMBATORE: Hindu Munnani district deputy president R Prabhakaran, 39, was admitted to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital after petrol packets and stones were allegedly hurled at him by four unidentified people near Madukkarai on Sunday evening.Prabhakaran was riding on his two-wheeler near the Arivoli Nagar area in Madukkarai when four unidentified people intercepted his vehicle and abused him using filthy language and then hurled packets filled with petrol and stones at him.He alleged that the attackers targeted him with two petrol packets and stones. Prabhakaran sustained minor injuries in the assault and was admitted to CMCH for treatment. Coimbatore district superintendent of police A Pavan Kumar and West Zone inspector general of police R V Ramya Bharathi inspected the spot where the attach happened.The Madukkarai police registered a case and began investigations.Sources said a personal security officer provided to him had been withdrawn recently. Police officers said they were investigating whether he himself created the scene or miscreants were involved in the incident.
