COIMBATORE: The Peelamedu police in Coimbatore have arrested nine men on charges of murdering a 25-year-old man here in the early hours of Tuesday.Police arrested Vignesh,27, of Tirupur, Vigensh, 20, Manikandan, 27, Sathish Kumar, 19, Riyas, 24, Sivakasi, 22, and Sowripalayam here, Santhosh, 19, Arjun, 23, of Udayampalayam and Marimuthu, 20, of Puliyakulam on charges of murdering Naveen, 25. Naveen, a native of Vyasarpadi in Chennai, arrived here last week to celebrate his birthday, which was on Wednesday. He was staying at his friend Malaimaran’s rented house in Udayampalayam.According to police, an argument broke out when Vignesh and Santhosh questioned Naveen’s friend Ivin Raj for riding a two-wheeler at a high speed in Ashok Nagar in Udayampalayam on Monday night. Later, Naveen and his friends confronted Santhosh and assaulted him.Santhosh informed his friend about the incident. In the early hours of Tuesday, Vignesh, Santhosh, Manikandan, Siva, Vignesh, Riyas, Arjun, Sathishkumar and Marimuthu arrived at the rented house where Naveen was staying with his friends and launched an attack. In this attack, Naveen suffered serious injuries and died. Malaimaran, Suresh, Rohit Raj, Ivin Raj and Aakash sustained injuries and received treatment in a hospital.Police arrested all nine suspects on Wednesday. They were remanded in judicial custody. Weapons used in the crime, including knives, hammers, and wooden logs, had been seized, police said.
