COIMBATORE: The Perur police in Coimbatore district on Tuesday arrested a man on charges of planting a country made bomb, locally known as avuttukai, in an agricultural field for hunting wild boars. The arrest comes after a bull suffered jaw injuries after biting the country-made bomb.A bull belonging to a farmer Palanisamy, 65 of Karadimadai near Perur was grazing in an agricultural field at Karadimadai on Tuesday morning. It bit a fruit, and an avuttukai hidden in it exploded. The bull’s jaw was badly injured.Palanisamy alerted the Madukkarai forest range officials and Perur police, who began investigation immediately.Preliminary inquiries revealed that L Rayan, 70, of Karadimadai near Perur placed the country made bomb in a sesame field for hunting wild boars despite being warned by the farmer that cattle grazed in the area.Police arrested Rayan and seized four country made bombs from his residence.
