CHENNAI: The Madras high court on Thursday dismissed the anticipatory bail plea filed by DMK MLA and former minister V Senthilbalaji in connection with a corruption case registered against him by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC).The court observed that the allegations against Senthilbalaji involved causing a loss of over Rs 17 crore to the public exchequer and held that the case required custodial interrogation of the accused.“The allegation was of having caused a loss of over Rs 17 crore to the public exchequer and therefore, the case requires custodial interrogation of the accused,” the high court said.The case was registered by the DVAC against Senthilbalaji over allegations of corruption. The DMK leader had approached the court seeking protection from arrest through an anticipatory bail plea.
