Analysis of these accounts showed that public deposits had been diverted for personal benefit and to acquire movable and immovable assets in the names of family members and entities controlled by them. The agency found that properties belonging to the society were mortgaged to obtain loans from financial institutions and the funds were allegedly used to acquire personal assets of Premkumar. The money was circulated through multiple accounts to conceal its source. The ED said the misuse of society funds ran into hundreds of crores of rupees, with the exact amount being quantified.During the searches, officials found that Premkumar continued to actively control the affairs of the society and had been signing several statutory documents.
