Chennai: MGM Healthcare and MGM Cancer Institute have launched a master health and vaccination package for blood donors to encourage blood donation and monitor the donors’ health. The initiative was made during the observance of World Blood Donor Day 2026. The package was launched by managing director Dr Prashanth Rajagopalan along with the hospital’s chief operating officers, who also unveiled a new donor card. The hospital said the initiative recognises repeat donors while promoting safe and voluntary blood donation. Senior consultant in transfusion medicine Dr Shanmugha Priya R A said the MGM Blood Centre collected over 700 blood and blood component donations in June through donor motivation drives and NGOs. She stressed the need to build a culture of regular voluntary donation, particularly to meet the demand for specialised blood components required for transplant and oncology.
