Flood alert issued to people living on banks of Thenpennai river

Krishnagiri: Revenue officials on Tuesday issued flood warnings to people living on the banks of the Thenpennai river as 1,203 cusecs (cubic feet per second) of water was being released from the Kelavarapalli dam in Krishnagiri district. Officials advised people not to bathe or wash clothes in the river.The inflow into the Kelavarapalli dam stood at 1,200 cusecs on June 21. It rose to 1,365 cusecs on Tuesday morning due to rainfall in the catchment areas. The dam has a full height of 44.28 feet. It currently holds water up to 42.48 feet.(Photo: S Parthiban)
