KARUR: DVAC on Wednesday morning began conducting raids at former DMK minister V Senthil Balaji’s residence in Karur and at locations associated with his close confidantes.Sources said the raids began at around 7am. The searches are going on at the former minister’s residence in Rameshwarapatti; the Murthipalayam residence of Senthil Balaji’s assistant, Subramani; the Koyampalli residence of DMK Karur east union secretary Bhaskar; and the residences of Karthik and Ramesh in Kothai Nagar. The raids are also being conducted at Tasmac district office at Thozhilpettai in Karur. Recently, Senthil Balaji, his brother Ashok Kumar, Karthik, and Ramesh were all alleged by the police to have been involved in a case involving an attempt to poach TVK MLA N Ilaiyaraja by offering Rs 35 crores. Triplicane police have so far arrested 14 persons in the case and suspect that Senthil Balaji and Ashok Kumar were part of the alleged conspiracy to topple the TVK govt.
