Ashley Taunton recently opened up about how it felt after finding out that the ‘Love Story’ singer had donated USD 50,000. After her family and friends set up a fundraising page to cover the medical costs for her recovery, Taunton and her family were left in awe after finding out that the pop icon had donated such a big amount to her.While talking to PEOPLE about the same, Taunton shared, “I am in awe of how God works and how so many can be the hands and feet of Christ to bring triumph from tragedy. It has been an overwhelming blessing, and we are so grateful.” At the time, Taunton was heading to therapy when her friend, Laura Ortelt, who had set up the fundraising page, tried to call her. However, when they were unable to contact her, they got in touch with her husband, Joe, who had been with her at the time.She added, “He said, ‘No way. Supposedly Taylor Swift just donated $50,000 to the GoFundMe’. Then my stomach flipped, and I got tears in my eyes but [I] also was in disbelief. My physical therapist was shocked, and my husband had to walk outside and gather himself.” She also confirmed that the platform that they used to set up the page also contacted them to confirm that the donation had actually come from the singer.She further opened up about how the money is going to be of great help to her family in managing all of her medical expenses. She added, “These donations will help us manage bills and care for our animals and children so I can focus on healing, and my husband can focus on helping me to do so. I still don’t even know how to articulate how thankful we are, and I wish I could hug Taylor and everyone who has blessed us.”
What happened to Ashley Taunton?
A few days ago, it was reported by the outlet that Taunton had been on the road in Rhode Island with her daughter when she came across an accident. As a certified nurse, she quickly jumped into action, telling her daughter to call her husband and their father. When she reached the scene, she reported that she found that they had been teenagers who had lost control of the car because of the slippery road.While trying to help them, another car nearby lost control and headed for her. She immediately pushed away the teenager who was standing closest to her out of the way and was struck by the vehicle. Talking about the accident, she recalled, “It just felt like a big explosion. I just remember being on the ground, and I could see my ankle was hanging there. I went to try to get up, and I couldn’t breathe.”Taunton was later admitted to Rhode Island International Hospital with life-threatening injuries. At the time of writing, her fundraiser had raised more than USD 90,000.
