Coimbatore: Coimbatore city police seized a large haul of contraband including ganja, IMFL bottles and lottery tickets, over the weekend, as part of a three-day storming operation held across the state.During the three-day operation which lasted from Friday evening to Sunday evening, police seized two tonne of gutka products, 30kg of ganja, 36 ganja chocolates, 208 painkiller tablets, 1,235 injections, 35 IMFL bottles, nine mobile phones, one knife, a cock used in an illegal cockfight, Kerala lottery tickets and Rs68,300 in cash.Police registered 70 cases and arrested 90 people, including A-plus history-sheeter identified as M Shanmugan, 33, from Trichy. Police seized an iron rod, sickle and small quantity of ganja from his possession, when they searched his room in Ukkadam. He was remanded to judicial custody.Police have been conducting these operations over the last couple of months to curb anti-social activities and drug movement in the city.
