Coimbatore: The Coimbatore city corporation has installed two new automated boom barriers at Vellalore dump yard to monitor incoming vehicles, and the trial is set to commence on Wednesday. This system is aimed at addressing allegations that unauthorised vehicles are dumping waste within the dump yard.“This system works similar to the FASTag system at toll gates. Each of the vehicles carrying waste are provided with a Radio Frequency (RF) ID which will be scanned during its entry and exit from the yard,” said a corporation official. He added that at least 200 RF IDs have been procured as of now and will be distributed shortly. The numbers of trips carried out by each of the RF ID fitted vehicles can also be monitored. Additionally, it will also aid in keeping a tab on the number of scheduled trips skipped by the vehicles.Following its implementation only vehicles with a valid RF ID issued by the corporation will be allowed to dump waste in the dump yard. Stickers of the ID will be pasted on the vehicles for easy scanning.
