COIMBATORE: The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) has deferred the release of its rank list for undergraduate admissions, which was scheduled to be published on Tuesday, citing delays linked to CBSE Class XII revaluation.Applications for admissions to agriculture-related programmes at TNAU closed on June 17. The university offers 14 undergraduate programmes and three diploma courses, while three BSc (agriculture) programmes are available through Annamalai University under the same admission process.TNAU had earlier indicated that the rank list would be released on June 23. Students, who applied and were awaiting the list, have been informed that the publication has now been postponed due to the ongoing CBSE Plus 2 revaluation process.University sources said CBSE results this year saw a three percentage point drop compared to last year, with several students clearing the examination with lower marks. They attributed the outcome to the introduction of a scanning-based evaluation method, alleging that pages in some answer scripts were not scanned properly, affecting marks.Following student dissatisfaction, a large number of candidates had applied for revaluation, the sources said. As a result, TNAU was unable to finalise and publish the rank list on the previously announced date, as the admission ranking must account for updated CBSE scores for candidates seeking agriculture degree seats. The delay is also expected to have a cascading effect on the counselling process, which was tentatively set to be held from July 7 to July 12, with officials indicating the schedule could be pushed back. The university said it would hold discussions with the state govt and take necessary steps. Officials added that the final college reopening date would be confirmed only after the rank list and counselling schedule are officially announced.TNAU had earlier announced that agricultural colleges would reopen on Sept 9, but sources indicated the date may be revised depending on the admission timeline.
