The U.S. military said on Tuesday (August 25, 2026) that four people were killed in a strike on a vessel in the Caribbean, the latest in a series of attacks Washington says target “narco-terrorists”, but human rights groups have condemned as extrajudicial killings.
The U.S. Southern Command in a post on X said, “Confirmed intelligence revealed the vessel’s active involvement in narco-trafficking. The operation killed four narco-terrorists,”.
However, the post did not identify the individuals or provide details on the location other than to say the vessel was “operating along established narco-trafficking routes in the Caribbean.”
Meanwhile, Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, and independent U.N. experts have called the strikes unlawful extrajudicial killings.
Earlier on Monday (August 24), the U.S. military said that two people were killed in a strike it launched on a vessel in the Eastern Pacific over the weekend. That strike marked the first in more than two months.
