COIMBATORE: Coimbatore district police seized 202 kg of ganja and arrested two men in separate anti-narcotic operations on Friday.In the first incident, police from the Periyanaickenpalayam prohibition enforcement wing (PEW) conducted targeted surveillance on the Tamil Nadu Engineering College Road near Karumathampatti. Acting on specific intelligence, police apprehended C Chiranjeevi, 39, a native of Theni district, and recovered 181 kg of contraband intended for illegal distribution.Chiranjeevi confessed that he had travelled to Odisha to purchase ganja and transported it on a Kerala-bound truck, according to police.In a parallel operation, the Kovilpalayam police conducted vehicle checks in their jurisdiction based on confidential tips. Authorities arrested M Nandhakumar, 21, Coimbatore, after seizing approximately 21 kg of hidden ganja from his possession. Police noted that Nandhakumar was previously linked to multiple criminal offences.Both the men have been booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and remanded in judicial custody.
