Elektrotec 2026 begins in Coimbatore; EVs pull the crowd

COIMBATORE: The eighth edition of Elektrotec, an exhibition of electrical and electronic products organised by the Coimbatore District Small Industries Association (Codissia), began at the Codissia Trade Fair Complex on Friday, with a dedicated e-vehicle hall showcasing EVs ranging from two-wheelers and cars to 10-seater models and tipper trucks pulling the crowd.G A Pathanjali, managing director of High Energy Batteries, inaugurated the four-day event in the presence of Codissia president Rangaswamy and National Institute of Solar Energy director general Mohammad Rihan. The exhibition in three halls will run till Aug 24. It is open from 10am to 5pm.Organisers have said the 2026 edition has 260 stalls and 220 exhibitors, with participation from 14 States including Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and West Bengal.Renergy Coimbatore 2026, focused on sustainable energy, and RE Vehicle Expo 2026, focused on e-vehicles, are being held concurrently. Solar energy, EVs, automation and AI-linked solutions have received increased emphasis this year, with exhibits spanning the full power-consumption chain from household rooftops to large industry, and from switching systems to transformers and station setups.Renergy Coimbatore is positioned as a platform for manufacturers, project owners, managers and system designers to discuss renewable and sustainable energy options and solutions. Exhibitors are displaying systems, products and services linked to solar and wind generation, energy management and associated infrastructure.Key segments on display at Elektrotec 2026 include cables and conductors, cable fault locators, capacitors, testing equipment, design and consultancy, electrical and electronic components, electromechanical systems, energy meters, industrial control and automation, sensing and measuring instruments, insulating materials, IT solutions, industrial and decorative lighting, LED products, modular switches, EPC contracting and power utilities.
