KANYAKUMARI: A headmistress of a government higher secondary school near Thuckalay in Kanyakumari district has been transferred in connection with the incident involving two students who were seen allegedly consuming alcohol on the school premises.According to the sources, a video showing two schoolgirls in uniform allegedly drinking alcohol outside a classroom surfaced on social media on Thursday. Though the video went viral only now, officials said the incident had taken place in few weeks back.Sources said fellow students had recorded the video on their mobile phone. After the video gained traction on social media, the district chief educational officer conducted an inquiry into the matter. Based on the findings, the education department ordered the immediate transfer of the headmistress.Education department officials and police are continuing their inquiry to ascertain the circumstances under which the students obtained and consumed the alcohol and to determine whether any further action is warranted.A senior police official told TOI that we have conducted an investigation over the incident and secured one person who bought the liquor to the students. Further, investigation is underway.
