Chennai: A 39-year-old house painter was found dead with his throat slit near a police booth close to Ellaiyamman Temple on Tiruvottiyur High Road in Chennai early on Saturday. Tiruvottiyur police recovered the body and sent it to Stanley Govt Hospital for postmortem.Police said Durai Babu, of Komadha Nagar in Tiruvottiyur, lived with his wife, Sujatha, and their two sons. On Friday night, he left home after a quarrel with his wife. Around 4am, he called his aunt, Asarath Ammal, who lives in the neighbourhood, and told her that someone was coming after him and that he feared he would die.Durai Babu later had tea at a shop near Ellaiyamman Temple, and a short while later, his body was found near the nearby police booth with a deep cut injury to his neck. A case has been registered and investigation is under way.
