ClearedErode: CPI MP K Subbarayan has said incidents of crime have increased in Tamil Nadu and that the govt should take immediate steps to bring down the crime rate.“Failure to bring down crime rate would be dangerous for the state,’’ Subbarayan told reporters in Erode on Thursday. “TVK had said in their election manifesto that they would take efforts to bring down crime. The TVK govt should initiate steps as they had promised,’’ Subbarayan said.Though CPI has been extending outside support to TVK, senior leaders of the Left party have been flagging issues concerning the govt. Recently CPI state secretary M Veerapandian had said that “horse trading was happening in the state.” Subbarayan opposed govt jobs to the families of Karur stampede victims.Subbarayan, who is also the national vice president of AITUC, urged the govt to prioritise workers’ rights in public sectors undertakings.He said the govt should present a dedicated policy note outlining its stand on labour issues and hold consultative talks with trade unions before framing the state budget. Subbarayan said the TVK administration should explicitly declare that it would not implement the Union govt’s four new labour codes in Tamil Nadu.To a query, he said CPI would never become part of the state cabinet.
