Salem: Railway police seized 11kg of gutka found abandoned in a train compartment at the Salem railway junction on Tuesday.The seizure was made when railway police force (RPF) sub-division’s narcotics prevention wing conducted a routine inspection at 6:55am on train no. 12626 Kerala Express (New Delhi- Thiruvananthapuram). “During the search, as the train was passing between Karuppur and Salem stations, the team found an unattended shoulder bag near the lavatory of a general coach. On checking we found gutka packets,” said an officer from the RPF.The bag was brought to the Salem railway station, where the contents were weighed and confirmed as 11kg. The seized contraband was later handed over to Salem railway police station for further investigation and legal proceedings.
