COIMBATORE: Soil Food Web School (SFW), a global organisation specialising in soil biology education, conducted a 10-day international training programme at Sadhguru’s Save Soil Regenerative Revolution model farm in Coimbatore, with 46 participants from 10 countries. The Soil Food Web Accelerator Workshop, which concluded on Friday, brought together farmers, soil scientists, microbiologists, consultants and agribusiness professionals from seven Indian states and countries including the Netherlands, Australia, Iran, the United States and Costa Rica. The workshop followed a two-day Life in the Soil Seminar conducted on Oct 16 and 17, which was attended by 61 participants.According to SFW, the accelerator workshop provided hands-on training in regenerative agriculture and soil ecosystem restoration. Participants learned to prepare BioComplete compost using organic materials, monitor composting processes and regulate moisture and aeration. They also prepared biological liquid amendments, including compost extracts and compost teas.Microscopy sessions formed a key component of the training, allowing participants to examine soil, compost and liquid samples and identify microorganisms. Soil sampling and field assessments helped them understand how biological activity influences soil health and farm management.Evan Buckman, executive director of Soil Food Web Foundation, said the model farm’s existing natural farming practices and Save Soil’s outreach among farming communities made it an ideal setting for the international programme.
