Rs 634 crore cash-for-jobs scam: DVAC raids 25 locations linked to DMK’s KN Nehru
Former DMK minister KN Nehru’s supporters have gathered outside his residence in Thillai Nagar, Trichy as DVAC search is underway.

CHENNAI: The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) on Thursday launched simultaneous searches at 25 locations across Tamil Nadu, including the residence of former DMK minister KN Nehru in Trichy and his brother’s house in RA Puram, Chennai, in connection with an alleged Rs 634 crore cash-for-jobs scam. The searches come days after the Madras high court cleared the way for the anti-corruption agency to investigate allegations of irregularities in recruitment to government posts during the previous DMK government’s tenure. In Trichy, a DVAC team headed by a deputy superintendent of police began searching Nehru’s residence at Thillai Nagar around 7 am.The former Minister, who held the Municipal Administration and Water Supply portfolio in the previous government, was present when the searches commenced, police sources said.As the searches continued, DMK workers gathered outside Nehru’s residence in Trichy. In Chennai, DVAC officials conducted searches at Nehru’s brother’s residence in RA Puram as part of the statewide operation. The case centres on allegations that money was collected from candidates in exchange for government jobs in the Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department when Nehru was the minister.Officials searched several premises linked to Nehru and his associates to examine documents and other materials that could help establish suspected financial transactions and identify those involved. This is the second round of DVAC searches at premises linked to Nehru since September.Earlier, the agency searched his residence and other locations in Chennai as part of an investigation into alleged irregularities in contracts awarded by the Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department between 2021 and 2025.
