KRISHNAGIRI: A 20-year-old woman was murdered by her boyfriend near Hosur in Krishnagiri district on Sunday night, following which the man died by suicide by jumping in front of a moving truck.The murdered woman has been identified as Thavija Sri, 20, daughter of Arumugam of Ponneri in Tirupattur district. She was working as a temporary employee at the Titan watch manufacturing facility in Hosur.Pradeep, 25, son of Maniarasu of Chinna Veppampattu near Vaniyambadi in Tirupattur district, was employed at a private company at G Mangalam on the Hosur-Bagalur Road. The two had been in a relationship for the past several months, police said.According to preliminary investigations, Pradeep had asked Thavija Sri to meet him near a room where he was staying. During the meeting around 9pm on Sunday, an argument broke out between the two.“In a fit of rage, Pradeep attacked Thavija Sri with a knife, inflicting multiple injuries on her neck. She collapsed and died on the spot,” said an officer at the Bagalur police station.After the incident, Pradeep fled the scene and ran onto the Hosur-Bagalur Road, where he jumped in front of a moving container truck in an attempt to end his life. The truck’s wheel ran over his waist, leaving him critically injured. Passersby rescued him and rushed him to Hosur Government Hospital. “Despite intensive treatment, he died in the early hours of Monday,” the officer added.Truck driver M Ramakumaran, 53, of Kattur in Trichy district, immediately reported the incident at the Bagalur police station and surrendered before the cops. Investigations revealed that Pradeephad had murdered Thavija Sri. A police team recovered her body and sent it to the Hosur Government Hospital for postmortem examination.Police registered a case.
