Chennai: VCK leader and social justice minister Vanni Arasu on Thursday flayed DMK for condemning the arrest of NTK Dharapuram candidate M Karthika as NTK chief Seeman had criticised social reformer E V R Periyar. DMK hit back saying that condemning the arrest of a woman politician does not mean supporting the principles of the party she belonged to. NTK too mounted a sharp attack on VCK, recalling the party’s change of political stands and alliances in the past.Quoting Seeman’s X post in which he thanked all political leaders including DMK president M K Stalin for condemning Karthika’s arrest, Vanni Arasu said Seeman had insulted Periyar as well as DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi on many occasions in the past. “Seeman indulged in ideological attacks as well as personal abuse of Dravidian leaders. He dismissed Periyar as a ‘nobody.’ He had also made vile remarks against Kalaignar,” he said adding that DMK may have forgotten the “despicable politics” of Seeman.“Neither DMK nor NTK have any shame,” Vanni Arasu said.Rebutting the charge, DMK deputy general secretary A Raja said condemning the “unwarranted arrest” of a woman functionary of a political party under the rule of “half-baked fools” does not amount to endorsing that party’s ideologies. Raja said Vanni Arasu’s “confusion” was because of his association with TVK.NTK spokesperson S Packiarajan hit back asking whether NTK was shameless or VCK. “Who is shameless, NTK or Thirumavalavan who allied with TVK for a posting after calling it as BJP’s offspring?” he asked.
