Krishnagiri: A 51-year-old man murdered his wife following a domestic dispute and later died by suicide in Chinna Elasagiri near Hosur in Krishnagiri district in the early hours of Tuesday.The deceased have been identified as Lakshmayya, 51, and his wife Vinodha, 46, of Balaji Nagar in Chinna Elasagiri. The couple hailed from Jesurajapuram near Anchetty and had been residing in the outskirts of Hosur. They are survived by a 21-year-old son Thappakuzhi, and two daughters, Vijayalakshmi, 25, and Nadhiya, 20, both of whom are married.Investigation revealed that Lakshmayya was addicted to alcohol and frequently fought with his wife. “On the midnight of the incident, a heated argument reportedly broke out between the couple. Their son, who was distressed by the quarrel, went to his uncle’s house nearby to spend the night,” said SIPCOT police sub-inspector Jeyaganesh.Police suspect Lakshmayya, who was under the influence of alcohol, assaulted Vinodha inside the house, resulting in her death. He is then believed to have taken the extreme step.The incident came to light on Tuesday morning when neighbours noticed the bodies and alerted the police. Police recovered the bodies and sent them to the Krishnagiri Government Medical College Hospital for postmortem.A case has been registered and further investigation is on.
