Chennai: Chief Justice of Madras high court Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari has assured a lawyers’ delegation that he will ensure that vacancies in the subordinate judiciary are filled quickly, and that infrastructure, including decent toilet facilities for women lawyers, in those courts is put in place.He gave the assurance in response to a charter of demands submitted by a delegation of Federation of Bar Associations of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, led by its honorary chairperson S Parbakaran, chairperson N Marappan and general secretary R Ayyavoo.The demands include immediate appointment of judicial officers in all vacancies in the respective subordinate courts to ensure that the administration of justice proceeds without any backlog, ensuring that members of the Bar are provided with additional chambers and infrastructural facilities such as individual chambers attached to the court premises in subordinate courts.The federation also demanded provision of a legal research database and effective Wi-Fi services within the premises of the courts, including the subordinate courts, and demanded that E-Seva booths or information centres be established to aid the members of the Bar in technological advancements related to the legal profession and administration of justice.“Steps may be taken to ensure that training centers are established for the new entrants of the Bar on professional ethics and other judicial exams to enhance their legal knowledge and capability,” the representation added.
