TUTICORIN: Raja, 46, an armed reserve policeman who was photographed with a gun atop a police vehicle during the 2018 Tuticorin police firing, died following health complications on Tuesday evening.Raja, attached to the Tuticorin armed reserve, had been undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the city. He died without responding to treatment. His funeral was held on Wednesday.Raja was deployed on security duty during the May 2018 anti-Sterlite protest in Tuticorin. Photographs of him standing atop a police vehicle with a gun during the firing went viral on social media. He was also among those named in the report of the Justice Aruna Jagadeesan commission, which inquired into the police firing.Raja is survived by his wife and two sons, police sources said.
