Erode: Bhavanisagar police have launched a murder investigation after a postmortem on a man’s body which was recovered from LBP canal on Saturday, confirmed that he had died of strangulation.Police said the body was found in stagnant water near the iron bridge between Mettupalayam Road and Puliyampatti Road in Bhavanisagar. Police retrieved the body and sent it to the Sathyamangalam Govt Hospital for a postmortem.The deceased was later identified as Jayachandran, 50, from Usilampatti, in Madurai district. Police said he operated Jai Travels and worked as a car driver. Jayachandran is survived by his wife and two daughters.Meanwhile, his wife, Ramaprabha, said Jayachandran was incommunicado after he left for Sathyamangalam on a hired trip on September 23.Police have formed special teams and are investigating to identify the murderers and determine the motive.
