Coimbatore: A burglar who broke open into a house and stole items worth ₹3.3 lakh near RS Puram on August 31, was arrested on Monday. Police also recovered the stolen items.RS Puram police identified the arrested as K Gunaseelan, 54, of Coimbatore. Police said he had burgled the residence of V R Suriyanarayanan, 76, a chartered accountant residing at Robertson Road in R S Puram, while the family was asleep.The family found their backdoor broken open, and silver items and ₹40,000 in cash, and a collection of vintage coins kept at the adjacent pooja room missing. Based on Suriyanarayanan’s complaint, R S Puram police registered a case on September 1 and began investigations.Police subsequently traced the suspect and arrested him on Monday. Based on his confession, police recovered stolen silver items valued at ₹3 lakh and ₹30,000 in cash. He was produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody.
