CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu assembly on Thursday unanimously passed a resolution urging the central government to recognise Tamil as the principal language of the Madras high court.Chief minister C Joseph Vijay moved the resolution on Thursday, saying the demand was not intended to oppose or diminish the importance of any other language.The resolution received support from lawmakers across political parties, including the opposition DMK.During the debate, legislators recalled the history of the demand and highlighted efforts by their respective leaders to have Tamil recognised as a language of proceedings in the high court.After the debate, Speaker JCD Prabhakar announced that the resolution had been adopted unanimously.(With PTI inputs)
