Dismembered body of woman found in rooftop water tank of Salem house
Police found that the body of the woman, aged around 40 years, had been cut into eight pieces and packed in three bags before being dumped into the tank.

SALEM: The body of an unidentified woman, which was cut into eight pieces and packed in three bags, was recovered from a rooftop water tank at a rented house in the Arisipalayam area in Salem on Monday.Residents of Gunapala Ramasamy Street smelt an odour emanating from the house. K Ramesh, a local priest who has been living in the house with his family for more than 15 years, inspected the tank and discovered the bundled remains. He informed the Pallapatti police.A police team, accompanied by fingerprint experts and a sniffer dog squad, reached the spot and recovered the body. Police found that the body of the woman, aged around 40 years, had been cut into eight pieces and packed in three bags before being dumped into the tank.“The decomposed remains were sent to the Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College and Hospital for postmortem,” said a police officer.Police registered a case and launched a probe.
