CHENNAI: Southern Railway has announced temporary changes to suburban train services from Aug 25 to Sept 7 due to redevelopment work at Chennai Egmore railway station. The five-hour line and power block, for launching foot overbridge girders, will be in force from 11.15pm to 4.15am in this period.On weekdays from Aug 25 to Sept 5, four Chennai Beach–Tambaram EMUs departing at 10.20pm, 11.20pm, 11.40pm and 11.59pm will be cancelled.Five services will be partially cancelled: Tirumalpur–Chennai Beach at 8pm, Guduvancheri–Chennai Beach at 10.15pm and 11.20pm, and Chengalpet–Chennai Beach at 10.20pm and 11pm, with the services terminating at Tambaram instead of Chennai Beach.Two services will be rescheduled: Chennai Beach–Guduvancheri from 9.45pm to 9.50pm, and Chennai Beach–Chengalpet from 10.20pm to 10.15pm.From Aug 26 to Sept 7, Chennai Beach–Chengalpet EMU scheduled at 3.50am will be partially cancelled between Chennai Beach and Tambaram on weekdays.On Aug 30 and Sept 6, seven EMUs will be fully cancelled, including Chennai Beach–Tambaram services at 10pm, 11.20pm, 11.40pm and 11.59pm, Tirumalpur–Chennai Beach at 8pm, and Tambaram–Chennai Beach services at 11pm and 11.40pm. Three services will be partially cancelled and three will be rescheduled.Passengers have been advised to check the revised schedule and plan their journeys accordingly.
