Chennai: Thoraipakkam police arrested a 31-year-old bike mechanic on Tuesday for sexually harassing a 22-year-old woman near a private college bus stop on Rajiv Gandhi Salai. The accused was produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody. Police identified the accused as Manikandan, a resident of Thoraipakkam. The complainant, a 22-year-old woman from Madurai district, works at an IT company in Chennai. According to police, when the woman was walking near the bus stop on Sunday, Manikandan came on a two-wheeler, groped and sexually harassed her before fleeing the scene. Based on her complaint, police registered a case and arrested the suspect after examining the CCTV camera footage. During the investigation, police found that Manikandan had been involved in a similar incident in Thoraipakkam on May 17, in which another woman was also groped and harassed.
