Coimbatore: More than 12,000 people took part in an awareness marathon organised by the Coimbatore district police at Madukkarai on Saturday morning.The marathon was organised to emphasise on achieving a ‘Drug-Free Coimbatore.’ Aimed at creating public awareness against drug abuse, the marathon was held at 5am on the Madukkarai – Madampatti West Bypass Road in Coimbatore. Under the rally cry ‘Let’s run for a cause! Let’s run for a drug-free Coimbatore!’, members of the public, including adults, youth, and children under the age of 10, participated with immense enthusiasm.K Vignesh, minister for prohibition and excise, flagged off the event. He also launched a signature campaign advocating for anti-drug awareness. R V Ramya Bharathi, inspector general of police (West zone), A Pavan Kumar, superintendent of police, Coimbatore, and other senior police officers were present.
