Chennai: Former DMK minister K Ponmudy on Friday appeared before the George Town magistrate court, a day after it issued a non-bailable warrant against him for skipping the hearing in a case over derogatory remarks made against women and religious sentiments.Ponmudy filed a petition seeking recall of the non-bailable warrant. The court accepted the petition after he appeared in person and posted the matter for hearing on Aug 13.On Thursday, magistrate C Sundarapandian dismissed Ponmudy’s petition seeking exemption from personal appearance and issued the non-bailable warrant.The magistrate cited a Madras high court order directing that the trial be completed within six months, necessitating his appearance before the court.
