Namakkal: A visually impaired man was rescued after he accidentally fell into an 80-foot-deep well near Kumarapalayam, in Namakkal district on Tuesday night.Police said M Sellappan, 28, was chatting with his friends near the Karuppanar temple grounds at Thavadapadi village. After a while, when he left for home, he slipped and fell into the well which was nearby.His friends immediately attempted to rescue him by climbing down the well, but their efforts were in vain. They quickly collected ropes from nearby residents, tied them together, and descended into the well. After nearly an hour of struggle, they managed to bring Sellappan out safely.“By the time the Kumarapalayam fire and rescue team arrived, his friends had already pulled him out and rushed him to the government hospital in Kumarapalayam,” said G Venkatachalam, a resident. Sellappan who suffered minor injuries in the fall, was given first aid and later discharged.
